Conwy County Borough Council currently lease the Maelgwyn Road Car Park in Llandudno. The lease is due to be expire during 2022 and the landowner has indicated that they would like the council to vacate the car park so McCarthy Stone can construct 55 retirement flats, with 21 private car parking spaces, on the existing car park. The development would result in over 100 public car parking spaces being lost from Llandudno town centre.
The council's Environment, Roads and Facilities department are resisting the development.
